Continuing & Professional Education at NC State University can assist you and/or your organization through programmatic activities and services of three units:
The Office of Professional Development, also known as OPD offers custom technical management seminars and conferences, certificate programs and non-credit distance education opportunities, while events management services can help you plan, develop, coordinate and organize your programmatic activities. OPD events management specialists relieve you and your staff of the burdensome administrative tasks associated with running meetings and conferences, allowing you and your people to concentrate on the content so crucial to the success of your programs.
The Computer Training Unit or CTU assists North Carolina corporations and government agencies to equip their employees with the technical skills required to keep their initiatives moving forward specializing in software applications, technical and custom classes, both face-to-face and online and benefitting from 4 dedicated computer laboratories housed in McKimmon Conference & Training Center.
McKimmon Conference & Training Center offers 33,000 square feet of technology-rich meeting space for any educational program or conference and an extensive list of caterers with a wide selection of menu choices suitable for every function. One of the largest and most versatile facilities in the state, McKimmon Conference & Training Center has 16 flexible meeting rooms ranging in seating capacity from 30 to 1200. Our experienced staff can configure rooms to your specifications within hours, from the smallest and most intimate seminar to a large conference, exhibit or banquet.
In the present tight economy, the McKimmon Tele-Center provides a cost-effective way to hold meetings when budgets are tight or time constraints prohibit traveling. Tele-Center users enjoy the convenience of high-speed internet access, state-of-the-art presentation tools and interactive, 2-way conferencing technology with a full-time technical support staff to assist.

McKimmon Conference & Training Center (MCTC)
McKimmon Conference & Training Center is our full-service meeting and training facility available to support on-campus, nonprofit, governmental and private sector clients in need of flexible space to hold seminars, workshops, conference, and exhibits that have an educational focus.
Office of Professional Development (OPD)
The Office of Professional Development has a highly trained professional staff experienced in both program development and events management. This group has developed, promoted and facilitated successful programs on campus, in Raleigh, all over the state, the southeast and as far away as Orlando, Washington, DC, and Seattle.
The Computer Training Unit is perhaps the best known provider of noncredit IT training in the area. Both face-to-face and online programs are provided in quick, convenient short course formats as well as more intensive multi-week programs leading to technical certification.
Administrative Technical Support
McKimmon Administrative Technical Support provides LAN, PC and programmatic support to units within the Jane S. McKimmon Conference & Training Center. Support includes PC hardware and software purchase and installation for units; registration and reservation software systems installation and maintenance; web services for management data collection and customer interaction; general help desk services; and main liaison to campus IT for facility. A 25 laptop rental classroom is maintained for McKimmon Center user rental, rental laptops are maintained for Center programs, and support is provided to Center visitors for classroom assistance and for usage of Nomad wireless access.
The McKimmon Center Print Shop and Mail Services provide support and perform services for the staff and units housed in the McKimmon Center. Clientele groups participating in meetings in McKimmon Center also have access to the services of the Print Shop and Mail Room. The Print Shop has state-of-the-art production equipment that can produce tape bound books with insert tabs, covers and color sheets, transparencies, etc. Print jobs can be sent from an office computer and stored on the system for future reprints. The Mail Services Office disseminates and posts all incoming and outgoing mail as well as handles all shipping and receiving for McKimmon Center staff and clients.
Marketing Services provides multi-media marketing support to the three units of the Continuing & Professional Education (CPE) --- Office of Professional Development (OPD), Computer Training Unit (CTU), and McKimmon Conference & Training Center (MCTC) as well as limited services to the other units of McKimmon Center for Extension and Continuing Education such as the Center for Urban Affairs and Community Services (CUACS) and the Encore Center for Lifelong Enrichment, as well as for the office of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor.
This full-service unit works to develop and fulfill marketing strategies to meet the client's individual needs. Customized marketing plans can be developed for any sized budget and any sized audience.
The staff of Marketing Services develops and delivers marketing vehicles in both electronic and print formats. Electronic marketing services include web site development, web site maintenance, e-mail broadcasts, and monthly e-newsletters. Print products include display advertisements, postcards, flyers, brochures, product catalogs, posters, banners, and other collateral materials.
