Founded in 1966 in response to the demands of urbanization, the Center for Urban Affairs and Community Services (CUACS) has become a vital part of the extension and public service program of NC State University. Conducting research to improve the lives of North Carolina citizens, CUACS serves the state of North Carolina, its municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and other colleges and universities. In addition to applied research and program evaluation needs, CUACS also provides technical assistance and related support for many public sector agencies and programs.
Impacts and Achievements
CUACS worked extensively with the NCDPI statewide testing and accountability program to:
- implement new and revised tests based on revised statewide curriculum
and - implement alternate assessments for students who are exempted from regular testing continued this year.
Improved technology allowed for better communication between remote sites since one hundred and fifteen school systems are served by CUACS. Significant progress was made in developing on-line testing for all high schools.
