Office of Professional Development

Emerging technologies and other industry developments are constantly changing the way we work and the skills we need to maintain a competitive edge. Employees who want to stay abreast of those industry trends must look for innovative ways to expand their skills and increase their knowledge base.

The Office of Professional Development (OPD) fills that need with an array of professional workshops, seminars and conferences. OPD works closely with national trade associations, government agencies, private businesses, and academic departments across NC State University to identify the latest trends, develop relevant content and plan educational events. OPD’s relationship with NC State University enables it to draw on extensive resources and tailor a learning experience for specific industries and businesses.

Whether you are an engineer who needs to update your professional credentials, a CPA who needs a refresher on the latest changes to the tax code, or a farmer interested in the impact of urban sprawl on sustainable agriculture, OPD is ideally positioned to deliver the quality learning experience you need.

OPD’s professional staff is equipped with over a dozen Certified Program Planners (CPP) to manage your event from start (pre-event registration) to finish (post-event evaluation). Events can be hosted on campus at the McKimmon Conference and Training Center, or brought to a site of your choice.
