Extension & Engagement is NC State University's "umbrella" organization which includes all of the University's varied outreach, extension and continuing education functions. The concept of "engagement" is meant to imply that there is an on-going relationship between the University and its many constituencies. Engagement goes beyond the University merely providing access to its intellectual resources. It implies that there is an exchange of information, ideas, problems and solutions between the University and its clients and partners.

This exchange of information between and among the University and its constituencies requires a continuous assessment/evaluation process which indentifies societal problems which the University can address through its training and technical assistance. The efficacy of these actions must always be evaluated to determine if the problem was appropriately addressed and the client satisfied.

This Index provides examples of the wide variety of assessment mechanisms by which NC State's Extension & Engagement Units evaluate their efforts to be responsive to their clients. Links are provided to each of the colleges and to the centralized continuing education unit which is not College-affiliated.
